Adelaide - Infusing Habits of Mind into Curriculum and Pedagogy
Module 2:
Infusing Habits of Mind into Curriculum and Pedagogy
To ensure the Habits of Mind are infused in a sustainable way, we introduce a rigorous curriculum design process that has the dual focus of developing students Habits of Mind, as well as enhancing learning outcomes in the content areas.
By integrating the Backward Design process (Wiggins and Mc Tighe) with our understanding of how the Habits of Mind are developed (Anderson, Costa, Kallick) we provide teachers with a rich and powerful framework to develop units of work that focus on enduring understandings and developing Habits of Mind.
All units of work developed as part of this Module are shared with all participants through the Habits of Mind Resource Library. This includes units developed in workshops around Australia, New Zealand and other locations. The resulting catalog of work forms a significant resource for your school.
This module is split into two sections. The first two days outline the process of curriculum development. The last day is held after participants have had a chance to trial their units of work.
All teachers registering for this module will receive free access to the Habits of Mind Resource Library for 12 months. This library contains well over 300 teacher generated classroom resources (activities, lesson plans, unit designs, powerpoints etc) to support your work with Habits of Mind in classrooms.
![]() | This module is fully endorsed by the Institute for Habits of Mind. All participants will receive a certificate of completion from the Institute for Habits of Mind. |
All participants will also receive registration to the Habits of Mind Teachers Network. This gives teachers access to many further learning opportunities and resources. See www.habitsofmind.org for more about the Habits of Mind Teachers Network.
It is an expectation that all teachers will have access to a copy of "Learning and Leading with Habits of Mind" and "Habits of Mind across the Curriculum". These books provide additional support and will be referred to throughout the workshop
